How To Stop Microsoft Teams From Starting Automatically Windows 10
Microsoft loves Microsoft Teams…and thinks you should, also. Yeah, it's useful, especially if someone you lot know schedules yous for a coming together over Teams. But if booting upwards your PC and seeing a Teams window immediately popular upwardly irritates you, you can remove Teams without actually uninstalling information technology.
In fact, you'll probably kicking yourself that you didn't call back of this sooner.
Teams typically opens itself during the startup or boot procedure of your Windows machine, and that's the key to removing it. Inside the Settings app on both Windows 10 and Windows xi, scroll down to the Apps > Startup bill of fare. Yous'll meet a listing of applications that launch during your PC'southward startup process.
Simply switch the toggle switch assigned to "Microsoft Teams" off, and Teams won't show up during the kick process any more. Presto!

Since you're already in the carte, have a moment to wait through the other apps that may be loading during the kicking process, perhaps behind the scenes. In my list of apps, I see ii mentions of Teams: ane for Microsoft Teams via Microsoft 365, and one for Teams for my personal account. I'm honestly not entirely certain if the second Teams app is something I loaded accidentally or if it refers to the Chat app that's buried on the Windows 11 Taskbar; either way, I've disabled both apps on my PC. I've also disabled apps for various game stores.
Remember, disabling these apps during startup doesn't mean that y'all can't load them subsequently. I oft use Microsoft Teams for meetings, but interact with the bulk of my contacts via email, phone, or messaging apps like Point, Telegram, or plain old SMS. If need be, I can simply launch Teams via the First menu. Ditto for gaming; if I'yard in the mood for PC gaming, I tend to launch a unmarried app—in my case, GOG Galaxy ii.0—and practice and then after hours. I don't want information technology to launch after I restart my PC.
If yous take a deep, burning hatred for Teams that extends to the Teams-based Chat app on your Windows xi Taskbar, you tin can put that out of your heed, too. But go into the Windows Settings card on Windows 11, and then to Personalization > Taskbar. (Chat isn't part of Windows 10.) Again, y'all'll see toggles for Search, Task View, Widgets, and Chat; but turn off whatever you don't want.

After you do so, y'all won't see Chat announced on your Windows 11 Taskbar, as it does below.

If you really want to go rid of Teams and uninstall both apps, you can exercise that, too. There are two piece of cake ways.
First, you can go to the Windows Settings menu (Apps > Apps & Features) and coil down until y'all run into the Teams entry or entries. Click the vertical ellipsis, or "three vertical dots," to the far right and select the Uninstall option. Alternatively, you can simply open up the Offset bill of fare, notice the appropriate listing, and right-click it to reveal the Uninstall option.

Information technology's up to you lot whether yous want to turn off Teams or non. Either way, yous've learned what's loading automatically on your PC and maybe done a bit of early on spring cleaning, to boot. Huzzah!
